Hockey Week Across America Begins Monday, Try Hockey For Free Part of Festivities Next Saturday

Week-long event celebrates all levels of the game

Hockey Week Across America begins next Monday, Feb. 28, and runs through March 6. The week-long celebration includes a special theme for each day, including fan-favorite Wear Your Favorite Hockey Jersey Day on March 4.

On March 5, as part of Try Hockey for Free Day, USA Hockey will stage its second national Try Hockey for Free Day of the season, providing kids who have never had a chance to try the sport to do so without cost. Families can find a location hosting a Try Hockey for Free event near them by visiting the re-designed

Started in 2008 by USA Hockey, Hockey Week Across America is an effort to celebrate the game and those involved at all levels, and also introduce the sport to new audiences.

Hockey Week Across America Daily Themes: 

Mon., Feb. 28 – USA Day, #TeamUSA 

Tues., March 1 – Hockey Is For Everyone Day, #HockeyIsForEveryone 

Wed., March 2 – Stick Salute Day, #StickSalute

Thur., March 3 – Hockey History Day

Fri., March 4 – Wear Your Favorite Hockey Jersey Day, #HockeyJerseyDay 

Sat., March 5 – Try Hockey for Free Day, presented by SportsEngine, #TryHockey 

Sun., March 6 – Welcome to Hockey Day, #WelcomeToHockey
