To cap off the weekend, "Celebrate Local Hockey Heroes" day encourages hockey programs nationwide to develop ways to honor their local hockey heroes.

The day also includes NBC's Hockey Day in America coverage, which starts at 12:30 p.m. ET with the Buffalo Sabres hosting the Pittsburgh Penguins. Coverage of the 2016 NHL Stadium Series between the Minnesota Wild and Chicago Blackhawks will kick off at 3:30 p.m. ET. The final game of the tripleheader will play on NBCSN featuring an Original Six matchup as the New York Rangers host the Detroit Red Wings.
